WMPMI is a volunteer based organization led by a volunteer board of directors. The board is comprised of the President, Past President or President Elect, seven Vice Presidents, and seventeen directors responsible for different areas.
Throughout the year, we hold multiple meetings, one Professional Development Day in October, and up to two Workshops. The chapter continues to explore various member outreach experiences to grow connections to the project management community. We host remote connections for our meetings when possible.

History
Western Michigan Project Management Institute Chapter (WMPMI) was established in 1993.
The kickoff meeting originally had 26 members and grew fairly quickly to 100 members in early 1994. After 25 years, the chapter has grown to nearly 1,000 members coming from all different areas of West Michigan. JOIN US
In March of 2022, the COVID-19 Pandemic swept across the planet, touching every corner of society from science and medicine to the economy, politics, and race.
Chapter operations came to a halt and eventually started back up virtually for 2-years. Once in-person meetings were re-established, the chapter held PDD events virtually and canceled the THEProject collegiate competition. The first in-person PDD was in held in 2022, and since then, the chapter has been building new engagement opportunities one area at a time.

- March 1, 2024 - 30th Aniversary for the WMPMI Chapter

- March 1, 1993 - Initial meeting of the organization committee
- March 10, 1993 - Application for potential membership
- March 12, 1993 - Authorization to form PMI-Western Michigan Chapter
- May 3, 1993 - Kick-off membership meeting
- September 1, 1993 - Application for full chapter status
- October 1, 1993 - Chartering of PMI-Western MI Chapter
- December 13, 1993 - Election of 1994-95 Chapter Officers
- January 1, 1994 - First officially elected Board of Directors
